Tips To Keep Your Four Legged Friends Happy and Healthy During The Holidays

The holidays are upon us!  As you celebrate this festive time with family and friends, please keep these helpful tips in mind to ensure a joyful holiday season.

Bones:
Bones, raw or cooked, can splinter easily and can be caught in your pet's throat and/or intestine, which may require surgery.

Table Foods:
Avoid the temptation of giving our favourite treats such as turkey or other festive foods to pets, as some foods may irritate their digestive system.

Festive Decorations and Gift Wrapping:
Items such as ribbon, bows, Christmas lights/cords, ornaments, and tinsel can be chewed and/or swalloed causing electrocution or an obstruction that may require surgery.

Long Trips and Large Crowds:
For those pets that do not enjoy long car rides, ensure that you have made arrangements for them to be cared for either at home or at a boarding facility.  Large crowds can sometimes be overwhelming for nervous pets.  In order ot prevent anxiety and fear, provide a quiet, safe place for your pet(s) to escape from the excitement.
